SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF POSTVILLE, IOWA
September 16, 2026
1. A special meeting of the City Council of Postville, Iowa, was held in the Council Chambers at 147 N. Lawler St. on September 16, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Mayor Koenig presiding.
2. On call of the roll, the following Council Members were present: Devora Mahr, Laurie Moody and Mary Engstrom. Absent: Larry Moore and Rebecca Engelhardt.
The pledge of allegiance was recited by those in attendance.
3. Council Member Moody made a motion to approve the agenda as posted by the Clerk. Seconded by Engstrom. Carried 3:0.
4. City Attorney Dan Morgan and Joseph Scharf, Lynch Dallas joined the meeting via zoom. Council Member Moody made a motion to enter into closed session under Iowa Code 21.5 (1) (c) to discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are in litigation or where litigation is eminent. Seconded by Mahr. The roll was called ayes: Mahr, Moody and Engstrom. Nays: None. Carried 3:0.
*Moore arrived at 6:40 p.m. and entered the closed session.
5. Council Member Moore made a motion to proceed as discussed with option #2. Seconded by Engstrom. Ayes: Moore, Mahr, Moody and Engstrom. Nays: None. Carried 4:0.
There being no further business on the agenda to come before the Council, Council Member Moore made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Engstrom. Carried unanimously. Adjournment 7:13 p.m.
