Meeting of the Postville Parks, Pool & Recreation Board

Members Present: Karen Meyer, Zach Steffans, Bryan Mueller, Mary Huinker, and Brady Schultz. Members Absent: Paula Enyart, RJ Olsen
Meyer moved to accept the minutes, claims and financial report from the August regular meeting. Motion seconded by Huinker. Carried 5-0-2
Old Business:
Time Capsule Opening – Discussion about having the time capsule opening at the next Farmer’s Market, at the Halloween event on October 31st, and at the Alumni Banquet next spring. Paula will discuss with Cindy Berns. If this does not work we will remove the items so they do not get wet and have an event next year.
Grant Applications – Upper Mississippi Gaming request of $60,000 will be awarded Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Should know a few days later if grant was awarded to the playground project. McElroy Trust grant has also been applied for asking $30,000
New Business:
Craft Show – November 28, 2026, Board will help with this and the money donated will go towards the Park Playground fundraiser.
Repairs for 2027 – The mushroom at the pool will need to be painted. Zach will have to attend CPO class this winter. Talk to Jennifer about potential shade structures at the pool.
Other Business:
No other business was discussed.
