Meeting of the Postville Parks, Pool, & Recreational Board
Wednesday July 22nd, 3:00 pm

Members Present: Karen Meyer, Zach Steffans, Paula Enyart, Bryan Mueller, and RJ Olsen
Members Absent: Barb Schissel, Kaitlyn Peterson, Mary Huinker

Mueller moved to accept the minutes and claims from the June regular meeting, and the motion was seconded by Olsen and it carried.

Old Business:
Time Capsule Opening: Working with the Chamber for a possible event and opening during September and may tie it in with Halloween

Golf Tournament/Circus: Discussion on the Circus will need a couple people to stamp hands before the show times. Pool will be closed the day of the Circus to prevent conflict. Golf Tournament planning is going well. The board will be serving the supper and it is a free will donation. Members will continue to work on Sponsorships/Donations for the event. Not many teams have signed up for the tournament so we will give it until July 31st to see if people sign up. If it is not close to full the tournament will be rescheduled for a Sunday in September.

Grant Applications: Working on the 2nd step of the Mississippi Gaming Grant.

New Business
Guard Attire: After a brief discussion Enyart made a motion to table this for next year. Meyer seconded it and the motion carried.

Fun Date at the pool: Steffans made a motion to have a fun date in August near the end of the season to reduce concession prices to get rid of the last of the concessions and also spend $50 for prizes for the fun day. Karen Seconded it and the motion carried.

Closing date for the pool: Paula made a motion to close the pool on August 16th at 5:00pm for the year as long as we have enough chemicals and have pool cleanup on the 17th. Karen Seconded the motion and it carried.

Circus AD Waukon Standard: After a brief discussion about the request by the Standard to charge 50% for the Circus ad in the paper and receive the other 50% in tickets Olsen made the motion grant the Standards request and pay 50% and mail them 2 adult tickets and 6 kids tickets for the Circus. Paula seconded the motion and it carried.

Other Business: Casey Johnson mentioned that several guards plan to come back for next year. She also gave the deposit amounts they have deposited so far. Over $11,000 has been deposited from the front desk and $5,600 in concessions.

Next Meeting: August 22nd at 9:00am at City Hall

Mueller moved to adjourn at 3:45 pm and the motion was seconded by Enyart and it carried.
