Meeting of the Postville Parks, Pool, & Recreational Board

Members Present: Karen Meyer, Zach Steffans, Paula Enyart, Bryan Mueller, Mary Huinker, and RJ Olsen
Members Absent: Barb Schissel, Kaitlyn Peterson
Olsen moved to accept the minutes, claims, and Financial Report from the July regular meeting, and the motion was seconded by Mueller and it carried.
Old Business:
Time Capsule Opening: Mary and Paula are going to talk to Cindy Berns about possible event the 1st or 2nd weekend in October on a Sunday
Golf Tournament/Circus: Discussion on the event to make it better for next year and the 2 events raised roughly $9,500.
Grant Applications: Working on the 2nd step of the Mississippi Gaming Grant which is due September 28th.
New Business
Pool 2027 Season/Changes: A long discussion was had for the 2027 looking at options to save money on wages. Members discussed reducing the amount of guards there during the season and potentially having a minimum wage concession stand worker and discussed potentially reducing hours or being closed on certain days, such as Sunday. Also discussed that area pools are paying more to guards and managers and we will need to consider raising rates to stay competitive so we do not lose guards to other locations. Members will look into ideas for the next meeting on options we can take.
