The City of Postville notified the Iowa Department of Public Health on Dec. 26, 2025 of the city’s decision to discontinue the treatment of flouride in its public water system. After careful consideration by the city council, the council voted to cease addition of flouride to the public water supply, effective April 1, 2026. The City understands the importance of maintaining water quality and public health standards, and will continue to monitor and ensure the safety of the water provided to its residents. The City of Postville is committed to providing clean, safe, and reliable drinking water.
